Kathrin Hauser, 2024
Spruce / CSA Rosewood
Kathrin Hauser is widely recognized as one of the finest contemporary German luthiers, carrying forward the legendary Hauser tradition with instruments that combine elegance, balance, and tonal refinement. As the granddaughter of Hermann Hauser II and great-granddaughter of Hermann Hauser I, her guitars embody more than a century of luthiery heritage, while reflecting her own distinct artistic voice.
This recent arrival is an extraordinary example of her work. While the label reads 2022, the guitar was completed and delivered in 2024, and it comes with Kathrin’s signed certificate reflecting the 2024 completion date. It remains in perfect condition.
The top is an exceptionally figured spruce, both visually striking and tonally vibrant. The back and sides are made from spectacular old-growth Brazilian rosewood, with dramatic grain patterns and a depth of color that speaks to its rarity. Fit and finish are immaculate, with Kathrin’s signature restrained yet sophisticated aesthetic throughout.
In the hands, the guitar is immediately inviting thanks to its 646mm scale length, 52mm nut width, and a slim C-shaped neck that offers superb comfort and playability.

Sound & Playability
This guitar delivers huge, resonant basses paired with beautiful, open, and projecting trebles. The tone is both elegant and powerful, with the kind of clarity, separation, and refined balance that define the Hauser legacy. There is a distinct singing quality to the upper register, while the basses remain deep and authoritative without overpowering. The overall voice is responsive and lyrical, making it equally at home in concert performance or in the collection of a serious connoisseur.
Final Thoughts
Kathrin Hauser guitars rarely become available on the open market, and examples of this quality are especially scarce. This instrument represents an opportunity to own a piece of living Hauser history — a guitar with impeccable craftsmanship, premium tonewoods, and the unmistakable tonal character that has defined one of the most revered names in classical guitar making for over a century.
