Jakob Lebisch, 2024

Spruce / CSA Rosewood

Overview

This is an exceptionally rare Jakob Lebisch guitar, labeled 2024 and completed in summer 2025. Instruments of this caliber almost never appear on the open market. The very best players, professors, and concert artists worldwide are actively trying to secure a Lebisch, and his waitlist now extends well beyond ten years.

While some have begun referring to Jakob as the “new Dammann,” that comparison only goes so far. Rather than imitating an already overdone aesthetic or sonic formula, Lebisch has clearly absorbed what he has learned from the greatest modern masters, including Dammann, and transformed it into a voice that is entirely his own. This is immediately apparent both in the sound and in the visual language of his guitars, which are unmistakably personal and, by any measure, beautiful. His instruments have already found homes with some of the most respected artists and pedagogues in the world, including Hubert Käppel and Igor Klokov, and Meng Su of the Beijing Guitar Duo has already been seen performing on her brand new Lebisch.

Side by side with an already outstanding earlier Lebisch, this guitar is unmistakably more open, more projecting, and more alive. It is one of those rare instruments that immediately signals a maker operating at the very top of the contemporary field.

Fit, Finish & Aesthetic Detail

The rosette deserves special mention and is one of my favorites of all time. The small metal dots embedded in the design catch the light from across the room and become even more captivating up close. It is a level of elegance that feels once in a generation, something many luthiers never achieve even across a lifetime of work. The aesthetic restraint mirrors the musical intent with clarity, confidence, and depth.

The fit and finish on this guitar are nothing short of perfect. Every transition, edge, and surface is executed with absolute precision.

Sound

More powerful and richer than you can imagine.

Whether you are seated in front of this guitar or fortunate enough to be behind it, you experience the ideal sound that guitarists and luthiers around the world are searching for. The basses are dark, rich, and noble, evocative of the finest old Spanish instruments by Antonio de Torres Jurado, Santos Hernández, or Enrique García Simplicio, with a low main air resonance that gives the sound real physical presence.

At the same time, the trebles sparkle with the clarity, purity, and projection one associates with the very finest guitars by Hermann Hauser I. The result is a sound that feels complete, balanced, and deeply satisfying at any dynamic.

Any more words and I will get too carried away. This is a guitar that must be experienced.

Woods

The woods are of the absolute highest quality.

The spruce top features subtle bearclaw figuring that adds visual texture and stiffness. Turn the guitar around and the Brazilian rosewood back and sides are simply breathtaking. The vivid brightness and saturation at the center of the set feel like a perfect visual metaphor for the burst of energy you experience the moment you play or listen to this guitar.
