What else can I say besides this is one of the finest double tops you’ll find, coming from the most prominent doubletop maker in the States? Glenn Canin is without a doubt one of the most respected luthiers working today, and his guitars have found their way into the hands of top players worldwide. This 2011 cedar double top is a prime example of why—it's got a massive, singing voice, perfect intonation, and one of the easiest-playing necks you’ll ever come across.
I’ve played several Canins over the years, but this one takes me right back to the first I fell in love with—a spruce double top from 2010 or 2011 that belonged to a colleague of mine: Steve Lerman. That guitar was a revelation in both tone and playability, and this one captures that same magic. The bass is deep and powerful, the trebles are crisp and lyrical, and everything just rings with incredible sustain. It’s an instrument that feels truly “broken in,” with a responsiveness that only comes from over a decade of careful playing.
Cedar double top (nomex core) – Warm, powerful, and highly responsive.
650mm scale, 52mm nut width – Comfortable and familiar feel.
Raised fingerboard – Easier access to higher frets.
Thin, C-shaped neck – One of the most effortless-playing guitars out there.
Exceptional intonation – Glenn Canin’s guitars are the gold standard for perfect tuning across the entire fretboard.
This guitar has been well cared for and played gently over the years. The French polish shows some natural wear, particularly where the guitar rests against the player, but nothing out of the ordinary for a well-loved instrument of this age. Structurally, it's in excellent shape with no cracks or repairs. Most impressively, the soundboard is in near-pristine condition—the previous owner took exceptional care of it, and from the front, it looks like a guitar that’s less than a year old.
Simply put, this is an incredible example of Glenn Canin’s work. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out - evan@guitarcollection.com.
