Ignacio Fleta, 1976
Cedar / Indian Rosewood
Ignacio Fleta is one of the most legendary names in classical guitar making. Based in Barcelona, Fleta helped redefine the voice of the modern concert guitar. Alongside Torres and Hauser I, he stands as one of the most influential luthiers in history, further elevated by his deep association with John Williams, who famously played Fleta guitars throughout his early career, along with countless others.
This example from 1976 comes from what many consider the golden period of Fleta’s output, particularly the 1960s and 70s. Guitars from this era are increasingly rare on the market, especially in this level of condition. Known for their immense power, warmth, and lyrical top end, Fleta’s instruments offer a distinctly bold take on traditional Spanish luthiery. This one is no exception.
From the very first note, it’s clear: this is a world-class instrument.
Sound
This guitar has everything that defines Fleta’s unmistakable voice. The power is immediate, and the body practically resonates in your arms. The first string is simply magical: lyrical, vibrant, and expressive in all registers. The overall character is bold yet sensitive, capable of tremendous nuance and projection. It moves seamlessly between a rich, full-bodied warmth and a crystalline brilliance depending on touch and articulation.
This is one of those rare instruments that responds just as well to aggressive playing as it does to delicate phrasing. It’s dynamic, responsive, and inspiring to play—an expressive tool for serious performers and collectors alike.

Craftsmanship & Aesthetics
This instrument features Fleta’s iconic plantilla and headstock shape, with its flat top and distinct flared edges. The rosette is classic Fleta, showcasing greens and wheat motifs that are instantly recognizable. The cedar top has aged beautifully, and the dark Indian rosewood back and sides add elegance and depth.
The fretwork is precise, and the neck is surprisingly fast for a traditional build of this vintage. This is a guitar that invites exploration and rewards sensitivity.
