Stephan Connor, 2025

Cedar / CSA Rosewood

Built in 2025 by world-renowned American luthier Stephan Connor, this remarkable cedar double top was specially commissioned for GuitarCollection and represents the very first guitar he has made specifically for our shop. Numbered 512—the same as the area code of our hometown, Austin, TX—this instrument blends Connor's deep artistic vision, tonal innovation, and peerless craftsmanship into one unforgettable concert-level guitar.

Stephan Connor is one of the most sought-after luthiers of our time, with his guitars in the hands of players like the Assad Brothers, Marco Tamayo, Anabel Montesinos, Thu Le, and many more. His instruments are celebrated for their balance of bold power, expressive tonal nuance, and modern design. This instrument continues that tradition and adds a few thoughtful upgrades exclusive to this build.

Sound & Playability

This guitar offers a stunning blend of clarity, warmth, and projection. The trebles are notably round and lyrical, while the basses deliver depth and complexity without overpowering the upper voices. With the soundport open, the player enjoys an enhanced sense of presence and connection. The removable tornavoz alters the main air resonance for even greater flexibility, making this one of the most adaptable guitars Connor has made.

The feel of this 640mm scale guitar is instantly familiar and forgiving. Whether performing lyrical phrasing or technically demanding repertoire, it supports the player with low action and excellent sustain across all registers.

As Evan notes in his video review, this instrument captures the best of both worlds: the power and articulation of a modern double top, with the breathy warmth and beauty of a traditional Spanish guitar.

Condition
