Key Features

This remarkable new guitar by Canadian luthier Mark Usherovich was specially commissioned by GuitarCollection and represents the first double top he has built for the shop. Known for his meticulous craftsmanship and beautifully voiced lattice-braced guitars, Usherovich brings the same level of refinement to this unique cedar/balsa double top.

With a low air resonance, explosive responsiveness, and deep tonal palette, this is a concert-level guitar that balances raw power with expressive finesse—an exciting evolution from a luthier whose star is quickly rising.

  • Top: Cedar/Balsa Double Top (interwoven chevron pattern)

  • Fingerboard: Ebony with sapwood detail, subtle dot markers at 7th and 17th frets

  • Armrest, Bindings, and Perflings: Hawaiian Koa

  • Other Notes: Matte finish bridge, low action setup, hand-drawn label by luthier’s wife

Sound & Playability

This instrument has a powerful low end thanks to its low air resonance (around E), yet never loses clarity in the trebles. The dynamic range is extraordinary—bright, punchy, and articulate, with dark lyrical tones equally within reach. The guitar is also incredibly easy to play, with a quick attack and effortless sustain. The 648mm scale hits a sweet spot for projection while still offering playability advantages over standard 650mm guitars.

Whether in lyrical passages or high-energy textures, this guitar responds with immediacy and color, encouraging expressive freedom and tonal experimentation.

Final Thoughts

This is a beautifully executed, sonically rich instrument from Mark Usherovich, and a standout double top in the collection. Its build quality and tone leave nothing to be desired. Whoever adds this to their collection will be gaining something truly special.
