Overview

This 2021 Felix Müller represents the mature voice of one of the most respected modern concert-guitar builders working today. Felix Müller, son of Antonius Müller, has taken the foundational ideas behind the cedar double-top tradition and refined them into a personal design language that is now unmistakably his own.

Felix’s guitars are no longer a discovery. They are firmly established on the international concert stage and are played by a growing list of top-tier artists, including Marko Topchii, Emilie Fend, and Adam Holzman, among many others. His waitlist now stretches many years, and examples like this make it immediately clear why.

Visually, the guitar is elegant and restrained. Subtle green accents appear throughout the rosette, purfling, and binding, tying the design together in a refined and cohesive way. The raised fingerboard allows easy access to the upper register, and the headstock follows the Müller family tradition, fitted here with Gotoh Premium tuners.

The neck profile is exceptionally comfortable. It sits in a sweet spot between thin and substantial, with a gentle D-shape and no hard shoulders. Combined with the very low, clean action, the guitar feels effortless under the hands and encourages long playing sessions without fatigue.

Built in 2021, this is the seventh guitar Felix completed that year. It has been played and has clearly benefited from time and use, developing into a fully open and mature instrument.

Sound

The sound of this guitar is beautifully balanced, open, and immediately rewarding. The cedar double top with balsa core produces a voice that is clear and singing in the trebles, thick and articulate through the midrange, and powerful yet controlled in the bass.

What stands out most is the remarkable evenness across the entire fingerboard. Notes speak with the same authority and clarity whether played in first position or high above the twelfth fret. You never feel the need to adjust your touch or compensate for weak spots. The guitar simply responds.

The basses are large and cello-like without ever becoming loose or boomy. The third and fourth strings are especially satisfying, offering thickness paired with excellent clarity. The trebles bloom easily and carry long, shimmering sustain, with overtones that linger beautifully at the end of phrases and chords.

This is an extremely forgiving guitar that does not exaggerate unwanted noise, yet it remains highly responsive and expressive. It rewards a relaxed right hand and makes musical phrasing feel natural and intuitive. It is the kind of instrument that makes you feel immediately at ease and, frankly, makes you sound better than you expect.
