I've had the pleasure of knowing the team at Altamira for over five years. After recording a home concert for them, collaborating on numerous projects, and experiencing the exceptional quality of their instruments firsthand, I'm thrilled to announce that we are now proud to represent their guitars!

We're kicking things off with the stunning "Vienna" model guitar, brand new from the Hanson workshop at Altamira with more on the way soon. The exact guitar featured in the video is still available—so don't miss your chance to own this incredible instrument!

The Altamira "Vienna" model pays homage to the 19th-century guitars of Johann Georg Stauffer, a celebrated Viennese luthier and pivotal figure in classical guitar history. Stauffer's influence on the Romantic period repertoire and guitar design is undeniable, and this model beautifully channels his legacy.

This instrument features a solid spruce top and stunning bird’s eye maple back and sides, finished with a delicate French polish for an authentic, elegant look. The ebony fingerboard and mahogany neck provide a smooth playing experience, while the lacquered neck back adds a touch of durability without sacrificing style.

  • Solid spruce top: Provides a warm, resonant tone with excellent projection.

  • Bird’s eye maple back and sides: Stunning aesthetics combined with rich tonal qualities.

  • French polish finish: Enhances the guitar’s visual appeal and historical authenticity.

  • 622mm scale length: Compact design for increased playability, especially suited to Romantic-era repertoire.

  • Ebony fingerboard and mahogany neck: Smooth, comfortable playing feel with robust craftsmanship.

  • Includes a soft Altamira case, booklets, action gauge, and key to adjust the action.

Playability and Tone

With a shorter 622mm scale length, this guitar offers exceptional playability, particularly for Romantic-era compositions by Mertz or Legnani. The smaller dimensions make stretches and intricate passages more accessible, allowing the instrument’s warm, responsive tone to shine in repertoire from this period. Despite its compact size, the Vienna model projects a rich, nuanced sound, perfect for intimate settings or collectors seeking a faithful 19th-century replica.

Unique Innovations
  • Adjustable and detachable neck: Effortlessly fine-tune the action to match your playing style without altering the saddle or bridge.

  • Floating fingerboard: Enhances resonance and adds a distinctive design element.

  • Modernized tuning pegs: Styled like traditional friction pegs but offer smooth, precise adjustments without slippage.

A standout feature of the Vienna model is its adjustable and detachable neck. This innovative design allows players to effortlessly fine-tune the action without altering the saddle or bridge, accommodating various playing styles with ease. The tuning pegs, styled to resemble traditional friction pegs, are modernized for smooth, precise adjustments, eliminating the challenges often associated with vintage-style guitars.

The guitar’s craftsmanship extends to its floating fingerboard and ornately designed bridge with bridge pins, enhancing both its aesthetic and acoustic qualities. Whether you’re exploring Romantic repertoire or experimenting with modern pieces, the Vienna model provides an inspiring, versatile platform for creative expression.

Renowned classical guitarists like Ricardo Gallén, Pavel Steidl, and Dragos Ilie have praised and performed on the Altamira Vienna model, attesting to its exceptional quality and authenticity. This guitar is a fitting choice for musicians and collectors who value historical precision and refined artistry in their instruments.
