Tamara Stahl began playing classical guitar at age seven, and her path to the bench ran through some of the most instrument rich rooms in Europe. Working in the classical guitar trade in Karlsruhe from 2016, she handled fine handmade guitars daily, and the experience drew her deeply into lutherie. She completed her formal training at the instrument making school in Mittenwald, Bavaria in 2019, then moved to southern Spain to study with experienced makers in the traditions that shaped the modern classical guitar. In 2022 she opened her own workshop in Weimar, Germany, a space she shares with fellow luthier Johanna Vogl.

Stahl builds traditional single top guitars with a distinctly modern polish. Her cedar instruments use seven fan spruce bracing, maple lined double sides, raised fingerboards with a twentieth fret, and comfortable, slightly thinner C shaped necks. The visual identity is just as clear: an intricate, dimensional rosette that feels organic and unmistakably personal, a subtly flared bridge echoed in the tie block, and a refined headstock inlay. The result is a lightweight instrument, alive in the hands, that pairs the warmth and vocal immediacy of cedar with a clarity, focus, and projection more often associated with modern concert designs.

We are honored to serve as Tamara Stahl's exclusive North American dealer, and her first guitar for us, No. 23, is one of the most exciting new maker instruments we have encountered in recent memory. Nothing about it felt tentative or early career: the melody carried clearly through a shimmer of overtones, the basses had depth and growl, and the second string possessed a remarkably beautiful vocal quality. There were special sounds all over the fingerboard, notes that make you stop and listen. We look forward to offering her future instruments, and our expert team welcomes showroom visits to experience her work firsthand.
