Tamara Stahl, 2026
Cedar / Indian Rosewood
Overview
We are thrilled to present the first guitar built for GuitarCollection.com by the young German luthier Tamara Stahl, and we are honored to serve as her exclusive North American dealer. This is genuinely one of the most exciting new-maker instruments we have encountered in recent memory. This 2026 guitar is only her No. 23, but nothing about it feels tentative or early-career. The refinement, confidence, beauty, and musical maturity on display here are astonishing. It is rare to see a maker arrive with such a strong voice so quickly, and this instrument immediately establishes Tamara Stahl as one of the most compelling young luthiers to watch.
This is a traditional single-top cedar guitar with 7-fan spruce bracing, Indian rosewood back and sides, and maple-lined double sides. It is lightweight, alive in the hands, and immediately impressive. The guitar has the warmth and vocal immediacy of cedar, but with a level of clarity, focus, and projection that gives it a very refined concert character.
Tamara’s work also has a very clear visual identity. The rosette is especially striking, with a beautifully detailed design that feels both organic and balanced. The bridge shape, tie block, headstock inlay, raised fingerboard, and overall craftsmanship all show a remarkable level of thought and refinement.
Sound & Playability
This guitar has a wonderfully open, colorful, and responsive voice. The first impression is one of balance and ease: notes speak quickly, the guitar feels wide awake, and there is a beautiful shimmer around the sound without losing the strength of the fundamental.
One of the most impressive qualities is how clearly the melody carries through the overtones. There is a focused, almost regal quality to the sound, with sympathetic resonance and color supporting the note rather than covering it. The basses have depth and growl, the trebles have sparkle and sizzle, and the second string in particular has a remarkably beautiful vocal quality.
There are special sounds all over the fingerboard. The guitar has that rare quality where certain notes make you stop and listen. It feels lyrical, alive, and deeply musical.
Playability is also excellent. The 650 mm scale length and 52.5 mm nut width give it a familiar concert feel, while the raised fingerboard and 20th fret make the upper register very accessible. The neck has a comfortable, slightly thinner C-shaped profile, and the setup feels easy and natural across the entire fingerboard. It has the evenness and comfort we often associate with modern concert guitars, but in the package of a traditional single-top instrument.

Aesthetics & Craftsmanship
Visually, this guitar is a standout. Tamara’s rosette work is one of the most memorable features, with a design that feels intricate, dimensional, and unmistakably personal. It gives the guitar a strong visual identity without feeling excessive.
The bridge has a subtle flared design at the ends, which adds an elegant touch while also reflecting a thoughtful structural approach. The tie block echoes the visual language of the rosette, and the headstock features a refined center inlay that gives the instrument a classy, distinctive look.
The Indian rosewood back and sides are beautiful, with lighter figuring that gives the guitar a striking but tasteful appearance. The Barnett tuners complete the design beautifully, with a refined and understated look.
