Fernando Mazza was born in Buenos Aires in 1977 and trained first as a guitarist, completing his studies at the Conservatorio Alberto Ginastera before discovering his true vocation at the workbench. Now established in Arezzo, Italy, he unites two perspectives in every instrument: the expectations of the performer and the solutions of the craftsman. His guitars have quickly become favorites of leading concert and recording artists, among them Stephanie Jones, Ricardo Gallén, Eduardo Isaac, Andrea González Caballero, and Julia Trintschuk.

Mazza works in two modern traditions. His lattice braced guitars follow the Australian school, known for sustain, balance, and effortless projection. His cedar and balsa double tops take a personal approach: the outer skin is left slightly thicker than most makers use, softening the attack so the guitar speaks with an organic voice rather than a percussive one. Underneath sits a seven fan pattern with three cross braces that create an almost lattice like character. Signature touches include rosettes inspired by Venetian arches, integrated armrests, soundports with magnetic covers, and Alessi tuners.

A 2022 lattice braced Mazza first came through our shop and immediately explained why so many professionals are turning to his work. His 20th anniversary cedar double top followed, explosive and commanding with unbelievable sustain. That experience began a collaboration we had been looking forward to: a 2026 double top built specifically for GuitarCollection.com, discussed with Fernando at length, with a glowing set of Santos rosewood we helped select. It refuses to announce itself as a double top, and it keeps opening up with every session. Our expert team can share what is coming next.
