Domenic Roscioli

Adelaide, Australia

Domenic Roscioli is an Italian Australian luthier building classical guitars in Adelaide, South Australia, where he has worked since the early 2000s. He built his first instrument with guidance from luthier John Price, then developed his craft under Jim Redgate, the celebrated Australian maker who became his mentor and taught him the art of lattice construction. Building deliberately small numbers of guitars each year, Roscioli has quietly earned a strong reputation among Australian players, and his instruments are now finding their way into the hands of serious performers well beyond his home country.

Roscioli builds two principal designs. The first is an Australian style lattice braced model in the Redgate tradition, with a thin, resonant soundboard and modern appointments such as an elevated fingerboard and integrated armrest. The second is a Fleta model drawn from a 1961 instrument by the great Barcelona maker, updated with a slightly raised fingerboard and a twelve hole tie block. Across both, his work combines commanding volume with warmth and refinement, and details like French polished tops, comfortable C shaped necks, and low, precise setups reveal a builder who thinks as much about the player as the listener.

Our first Roscioli arrived in 2025, a cedar lattice model with striking Amara ebony back and sides, and it made an immediate impression. The sustain is extraordinary, with powerful, expansive basses and round, lyrical trebles that project with real strength while staying warm and expressive. Every register speaks clearly, the dynamic range is wide, and the whole instrument feels alive from the first note. It set the tone for what we expect to be a long partnership, and we look forward to more of his guitars arriving in Austin. Our expert team is happy to arrange a showroom visit to experience his work in person.
