Andreas Kirschner builds concert classical guitars in Niedenstein, Germany, a small town south of Kassel, where he has devoted more than two decades to the craft. Over that time he has focused almost entirely on double top construction, developing a reputation for instruments of consistent quality and unusual depth of sound. Alongside new builds, his workshop undertakes acoustic optimization of existing instruments, refining resonance, intonation, and sustain, work that reflects a rare understanding of how a guitar actually produces its voice. Sound, as he puts it, is his world, and you feel it in every one of his instruments.

Kirschner's double tops pair a thin cedar or spruce outer skin with a Nomex interior layer, producing soundboards that are light, stable, and highly responsive. He has said that sustain and richness of tone are his top priorities, and his guitars deliver both: long, colorful sustain, deep growling basses, and clear, singing trebles that hold their balance across the registers. Slim C shaped necks, slightly raised fingerboards for upper fret access, and immaculate glass smooth French polish make the instruments as comfortable and refined as they are powerful, guitars that feel like both a precision tool and a piece of art.

We visited Andreas at his workshop in Germany and played his guitars at the source, and the experience made us eager to represent his work. The first Kirschner we offered, a 2025 cedar double top with Indian rosewood built for us, impressed everyone who picked it up: powerful, overtone rich, and endlessly sustaining, yet crisp and clear, with an air resonance at F sharp that turns the low register thunderous in dropped D.
