Dimitris Piperidis – 2025 Spruce / Indian Rosewood Classical Guitar
This gorgeous 2025 instrument marks the first guitar commissioned for GuitarCollection.com by Greek luthier Dimitris Piperidis. I first met Dimitris in 2019 at the Guitar Art Festival in Serbia and was immediately impressed by his work. Years later, I am thrilled to finally present a new custom-built Piperidis guitar—one that blends traditional roots with modern sensibility.
This guitar is based on a classic fan-braced construction, following much of the inspiration Dimitris has drawn from his mentor, the great Dominique Field. The design shows clear hallmarks of Field's influence, including the use of small "peones" linings throughout the sides, but the sound and feel are truly Piperidis' own.
The voice is immediately warm, open, and inviting—even with less than an hour of playing time so far. It’s exceptionally even across registers, offering both responsive dynamics and a lyrical, colorful character rare in a brand-new spruce guitar.
Best of all, this instrument was custom-ordered to my playing specifications, resulting in a thin C-shaped neck, low action, and an overall playing experience that feels fluid and effortless.
Key Features
Top: Spruce
Back & Sides: Indian Rosewood, dark and richly figured
Neck: Spanish Cedar, thin C-shaped profile
Fingerboard: Ebony, 52mm nut width
Scale Length: 650mm
Bridge: Indian Rosewood with matching design motif
Tuners: Kris Barnett precision tuning machines with marbled buttons
Sound & Playability
The Piperidis delivers a clear, warm, and balanced sound, offering immediate musicality and inspiring dynamic control. Basses are rich and resonant, the trebles have a singing, flexible quality, and the sustain is excellent even in upper positions.
It’s the type of guitar that invites you to keep playing and exploring, whether you're working on classical standards, romantic repertoire, or modern works.
Its immediate responsiveness, color palette, and superb ease of playability make it an especially attractive option for serious students, competitors, and professionals alike.
Condition
Brand new, 2024 label, delivered to me in 2025. No cracks, dings, or cosmetic imperfections.
Final Thoughts
This Piperidis guitar is a true gem—a rare blend of traditional inspiration and modern refinement at an accessible price. Congratulations to Dimitris Piperidis for building such a superb guitar, and we look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.
