Michele della Giustina

Michele della Giustina was born in Vittorio Veneto in 1962 and has been building classical guitars since 1991, working today from his home workshop beside a forest in Revine Lago, in the hills of Treviso. His training came through the Japanese luthier Kazuo Sato, which opened a long association with Japan's Niibori Guitar Music Academy, where he gave a seminar in Tokyo in 2003 and later hosted an apprentice for advanced training. He has exhibited at GFA conventions in Montreal and Atlanta, lectured at the Shanghai Conservatory, and since 2014 has curated a collection of golden-age Spanish guitars for GuitArt magazine.

His building joins traditional methods to the demands of the modern concert stage, informed by his parallel work restoring historical instruments. Della Giustina personally selects his Latemar spruce at the Nova Levante forestry station in the Dolomites, then lets it age naturally for years before it becomes a soundboard. That patience runs through everything he makes, and it has carried his guitars into the hands of players across Japan, the United States, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Colombia, and Europe, instruments that bring the old traditions forward with a craftsman's unhurried care.

Michele's patient approach, from hand selecting his spruce in the Dolomites to years of natural aging before a board becomes a soundboard, aligns closely with how we think about fine instruments, and we are glad to represent his work.
