Agustín Gaytán
2026Cedar / CSA Rosewood / 640mm

Santa Cruz, California
Agustín Gaytán, known to friends as Gucho, was born in Argentina and came to the guitar as a player, learning the folk music of his home country before moving into Latin American repertoire, classical technique, and composition. Woodworking came later, first as a furniture maker after training at a woodwork school, where he developed a lasting respect for materials, hand tools, and precise craftsmanship. The two paths met in lutherie: he began building guitars in Buenos Aires in 2012, moved to the United States in 2016 to build at Hill Guitar Company, where years of daily work refined both his hands and, in his words, his ability to listen, and later co-founded Lambdin-Morello Guitars with Ben Lambdin before launching a line of handmade classical guitars under his own name in Santa Cruz, California.
Gaytán builds a limited number of guitars each year, and every one begins with a conversation about the player's musical goals, ergonomic needs, and aesthetic ideas. The character of each instrument is shaped above all through the top: its thickness, its bracing layout, and its final tuning. He builds fully traditional guitars as well as double tops, offers elevated fingerboards and other refinements on request, and finishes everything in French polish. His signature is the rosette, an all wood design built from individually cut tiles, each one shaped and set into the top by hand.
A single photograph of one of those rosettes was enough to make us curious about everything else, and the first Gaytán to reach us kept every promise: a 2026 cedar and Brazilian rosewood guitar in 640mm scale with a fully traditional voice, remarkable balance, chunky, rich basses with real Spanish flair, and playability that makes vibrato feel almost free. We are proud to represent his guitars exclusively in North America, and our expert team is glad to talk with players about the instrument now in the shop or a future build.
